The Story Behind the Brand

How a woman, her skin, and a deep refusal to settle built Sacred Skin Botanicals
I did not grow up with skincare. In the home I was raised in, creams and lotions were considered unnecessary — even indulgent. So for a long time, I simply did not use them.
Then I discovered Clarins. And I fell in love — not with a brand, but with a feeling. The feeling of skin that had been genuinely looked after. It was unfamiliar enough to be remarkable.
But old habits are stubborn things. Without a ritual built into my life, it stayed occasional. And all the while, something was quietly happening to my skin that I could no longer ignore.
Large, dark age spots — the kind that settle deep and do not apologise for themselves. I have a blurred memory of my father's mother carrying them too, though I barely knew her. Years of sun, oil, and vinegar — old remedies that did more harm than good — had left their mark on my skin. I wanted to see if anything could actually change that.
So I researched. Not casually — properly. I found that Vitamin C, at meaningful concentrations, has well-supported evidence for addressing hyperpigmentation and improving skin clarity and texture. I found Tranexamic Acid, now widely recognised in cosmetic science for its role in reducing the appearance of uneven pigmentation. Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, Resveratrol — each with a body of research behind them. I built a system around what the science actually said.
The Sacred Skin Botanicals Skin Clarity System was the result. Two serums and a cream, each with its own heroes, all working toward the same goal: clearer, more even, more luminous skin. My own skin looks genuinely better than it did. Not untouched — but better. And that was enough to keep going.
The spots that started everything.
Then there was the dryness.
Dry, red, irritated skin around my nose. The kind that ordinary moisturisers sat on top of without ever addressing. I went back to my research, and this time I found CoEnzyme Q10 — a powerful antioxidant that is naturally present in every skin cell, and that depletes measurably as we age.
The science behind CoQ10 in skincare is compelling. It helps re-energise skin cells, supports the skin's natural collagen and elastin activity, and works against the oxidative damage that accelerates the visible signs of ageing — fine lines, loss of firmness, uneven texture. Paired with Sea Buckthorn and Prickly Pear in one serum, and Ginseng in another, the system works at multiple levels simultaneously.
The CoEnzyme Q10 System completely cleared the irritation. My skin feels soft and supple — genuinely comfortable to be in. I formulated it myself, and I have every reason to be critical. I am not.
A grandson with beautiful, unruly hair.

My grandson has Mauritian heritage — and with it, gloriously thick, curly hair that he was determined not to let dry out. He was particular about it, health-conscious in the way that teenagers can be when they care about something deeply.
I looked at the shampoo bar market and found it lacking. Most bars stripped moisture. Most did not address the genuine diversity of hair needs. So I formulated a range — five bars, each designed for a specific hair type and concern. A ginger bar for dry, irritated scalps. A rice and castor bar that leaves hair so conditioned you barely need to reach for anything else.
I packed a big box and took it to Melbourne. Watching my grandson use something I made specifically for him — that is a moment this brand was built on.
I have always loved a bath. Oils, salts, warmth, stillness. It has always been my way of being genuinely kind to myself. But the house I live in now has no bath.
So I built a ritual I could take into the shower instead. The Sacred Rituals Love Your Body System opens with a scrub that is simultaneously intoxicating and deeply effective — clearing the pores, waking the senses, leaving the skin clean in a way that ordinary washing cannot reach. Then a hydrating serum is applied to damp skin that does not promise hydration — it delivers it. Then a light Moringa Body Oil that melts in and leaves behind the faintest trace of dark, aged patchouli.
Every fragrance in the collection is different. But used in sequence, they engage the senses at every stage — and leave you feeling light and supple and genuinely cared for.
It is a dance.
No bath. No problem.

The Daily Edit
The Sacred Skin Botanicals Daily Edit holds the products that belong in every bathroom and every shower — the things your skin needs on the days between rituals.
The WAKAME Face Wash — a gentle hydrating gel cleanser formulated with Bladderwrack Seaweed Extract, Allantoin, and Aloe Vera — cleans without stripping, leaving the skin balanced and intact. The Hemp and Bisabolol Hand Cream was formulated for hands that do real work: built around Hemp Seed Oil's exceptional fatty acid profile and Candeia-derived Alpha-Bisabolol, it restores rather than simply softens.
And then there are the cleansing bars.
Four independently formulated body bars — two designed for barrier restoration, two for intelligent deep cleansing — each paired with a concentrated Active Whipped Botanical treatment that absorbs into warm, damp skin and goes to work immediately after cleansing. These are not soap and moisturiser. They are a daily cleansing system built around what your skin actually needs — whether that is repair, deep reset, or simply being genuinely looked after every single day.
The same standard. The same research. The same refusal to compromise.
What Sacred Skin Botanicals stands for.
Every product in this range began as a personal problem I needed to solve. Every formulation is built on research — not trends, not marketing language, not inflated claims. Every ingredient is chosen for what it genuinely contributes to the skin, not for how it looks on a label.
Sacred Skin Botanicals is INCI-compliant, independently formulated, and made in small batches with high-grade natural ingredients. Every label is carefully prepared to accurately reflect what is inside. There are no fillers. No shortcuts. No empty promises.
Just formulations that work — because they were made to solve real problems, for real skin, by someone who needed them herself.
